Arabic drama

  • Arabic drama is part of the international drama produced by the world countries. Its sections differ between Egyptian, Syrian, Tunisian, and Gulf dramas, which consist of 6 countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, and Bahrain).
  • Arab drama is known as the intellectual and cultural current of society, whose events take place in interconnected patterns in Arabic series.
  • The Egyptian drama is considered one of the most important, best and oldest of Arab dramas. It is also distinguished by having the lion’s share of the number of works produced annually, and its diversity between comedy, social, action, police, and others.

The first Arabic series

  • The series (Marzouq Effendi Family), which is the first series in the history of Arabic drama, was broadcast in 1959, via the Egyptian radio through the program (To Housewives). The series discussed various topics, concerned with Egyptian and Arab public affairs through the family of the employee Marzouq, and the topics dealt with the problems that Egyptian and Arab families suffer from, such as addiction, unemployment, immigration, and others. The duration of the episode was 5 minutes, and the most prominent artists who participated in this work were Fouad Al-Mohandes, Farid Shawqi, and Tawfiq Al-Dakan. This series was broadcast for 60 years until it was canceled in 2009 and returned again in 2013.

First TV series

  • Although Iraq, Algeria and Lebanon preceded Egypt in television broadcasting, the first Arab television series aired was the Egyptian series (Hareb min el ayyam).
  • (Hareb min el ayyam) was produced in 1962, which was not accepted to be aired on television except after several consultations, because it was a strange matter at the time.
  • The series is written by Tharwat Abaza, directed by Nour El Demerdash, script and dialogue by Faisal Nada.
  • This work starred: Hussein Riad, Saeed Saleh, Tawfiq Al-Dakan, Mahmoud Al-Hadini, Kamal Yassin, Madiha Salem, Samir Sabri, Sanaa Gamil, Muhammad Shawqi and others. This series is considered the most important work of the late Abdullah Gaith.

The oldest Arabic series
